The Apple iPhone 18 Pro is the latest Pro-level iPhone designed for users who want advanced performance, photography and battery life. It introduces several notable upgrades, including a variable-aperture main camera, the A20 Pro chip and improved Apple Intelligence features.
For UK buyers, the iPhone 18 Pro starts at £1,199 for 256GB. It is available in four finishes and comes with storage options ranging from 256GB to 2TB.
The new model also combines a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, an aluminium unibody design and USB-C connectivity. Its combination of hardware and software makes it a significant addition to Apple’s current smartphone range.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro Price in the UK
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro starts at £1,199 in the UK for the 256GB model. Buyers can also choose higher storage capacities, including 512GB, 1TB and 2TB.
The larger storage options cost more, making the choice particularly important for people who record large amounts of video or store extensive photo libraries. The 2TB version is aimed at users who need substantial local storage.
Apple also offers monthly payment options and trade-in opportunities. Therefore, the upfront price does not necessarily represent the only way to purchase the phone.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro Design and Display
The iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. It has a resolution of 2622 by 1206 pixels and a pixel density of 460 pixels per inch.
The display supports ProMotion technology and an Always-On display. This combination provides smoother scrolling while allowing important information to remain visible without fully waking the screen.
Apple uses an aluminium unibody design for the iPhone 18 Pro. The phone also features Ceramic Shield 2 on the front and a Ceramic Shield back.
The available colours are Black, Silver, Glacier and Burgundy. Burgundy is the newest colour option and gives the Pro range a noticeably different appearance.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro Camera
Camera performance is one of the biggest changes introduced with the Apple iPhone 18 Pro.
The main camera is a 48MP Fusion camera with variable aperture. This is important because aperture control allows the camera to adjust how much light enters the lens while also providing greater control over depth of field.
The variable aperture uses six laser-cut blades. The system can automatically adjust between different aperture settings depending on the lighting and shooting conditions.
The camera system is also designed to improve low-light photography and detail in challenging scenes. Photographers can use additional Pro controls to adjust commonly used camera settings more easily.
The phone supports high-resolution photography and advanced video recording. Dolby Vision video can reach 4K resolution at up to 120 frames per second, providing more flexibility for professional-style video creation.
The 12MP front camera also supports advanced features for photos, video calls and video recording. Apple has added Centre Stage capabilities, which can help keep subjects properly framed during supported calls and recordings.
Performance With the A20 Pro Chip
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip.
The processor includes a six-core CPU and seven-core GPU with Neural Accelerators. It also uses a dual 16-core Neural Engine for demanding machine-learning tasks.
This hardware is designed to handle intensive applications, gaming, photography and video editing. Hardware-accelerated ray tracing also improves the potential for more advanced graphics in compatible games.
Apple has paired the A20 Pro with a next-generation vapour chamber. This helps the phone manage heat during sustained workloads.
As a result, the iPhone 18 Pro is designed not only for short bursts of speed but also for demanding tasks that can continue for longer periods.
Battery Life and Charging
Battery life is another major focus of the iPhone 18 Pro generation.
Apple has made improvements to battery performance while maintaining a relatively compact Pro model. The larger iPhone 18 Pro Max offers even longer battery life because of its larger physical size and battery capacity.
The iPhone 18 Pro supports MagSafe wireless charging at up to 25W. It also supports Qi2 wireless charging at up to 25W.
Wired charging uses USB-C. The connector supports USB 3 data transfer speeds of up to 10Gbps, which can be useful when transferring large video files.
Storage Options
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro is available with four storage capacities.
The entry-level model provides 256GB, while higher options include 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. This gives users considerably more flexibility than choosing between only a few storage levels.
The 256GB version can be suitable for everyday users who primarily stream content and use cloud storage. People who shoot large amounts of Pro video may prefer a higher capacity.
Choosing the right storage before buying is important because storage cannot be expanded later with a memory card.
iOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
The iPhone 18 Pro runs iOS 27 and includes Apple Intelligence features.
Siri AI is also a major part of Apple’s new software experience. The company has positioned the updated assistant as a more personal and capable way to interact with the iPhone.
The A20 Pro chip provides the processing power needed for advanced on-device intelligence features. Apple continues to focus on privacy and security as part of its approach to AI.
The combination of the new processor and software therefore gives the iPhone 18 Pro capabilities that extend beyond traditional smartphone functions.
Connectivity and Other Features
The iPhone 18 Pro supports 5G, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It also includes Apple’s C2 cellular modem and N1 wireless networking chip.
Other features include Face ID, LiDAR, NFC, Ultra Wideband technology and dual eSIM support.
The phone retains the Action button and Camera Control. These controls provide faster access to functions such as the camera, visual intelligence, translation and other supported tools.
USB-C also provides a more flexible connection for charging, accessories and data transfer.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 18 Pro Max
The main difference between the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max is physical size and battery capacity.
The iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max has a 6.9-inch display. The Pro Max is also heavier and offers greater battery capacity.
Both models share the A20 Pro platform, Pro camera technology, storage options and core software features.
For users who prefer a more manageable phone, the standard Pro model offers the smaller design. Those who want the biggest screen and longer battery performance can consider the Pro Max.
Is the Apple iPhone 18 Pro Worth Considering?
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro brings meaningful upgrades across several important areas.
Its variable-aperture camera gives photographers more control, while the A20 Pro chip provides the performance required for demanding applications and advanced AI features.
The improved battery technology, ProMotion display, large storage options and modern connectivity also make it a comprehensive flagship smartphone.
However, its starting price of £1,199 places it firmly in the premium smartphone category. Buyers should consider how much they will actually use the advanced camera, performance and storage features before choosing a Pro model.
Conclusion
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro combines a powerful A20 Pro processor, advanced camera technology, improved battery performance and a high-quality OLED display.
Its 48MP Fusion Main camera with variable aperture is one of the standout additions. Meanwhile, iOS 27 and Siri AI add new software capabilities to the overall experience.
